Our Water Well Drilling Process

Water well drilling is the process of accessing groundwater in underground aquifers. This specialized operation involves several steps and equipment, beginning with permitting and preparation. The customer obtains a well permit from the county’s health department, which includes the well location, and prepares the site for the drilling rig and support equipment. We then set up our drilling rig—an air rotary tool—based on the location in the well permit. The depth depends on the water table’s location and local geology. The average for our area is 300 feet. Once we reach the desired depth, we insert a casing (PVC or steel) to prevent the well from collapsing and protect the water from contamination. We apply grout around the casing to seal it. Finally, we flush and test the well to ensure it produces clean water at a sustainable rate. If contracted, we install a pump system in the well to bring water to the surface.
